“It is not that I have already achieved it, nor that I am already perfect, but I am moving on, to see if I can achieve that for which I was also reached by Jesus Christ.”
In all stages of life, being children, becoming adolescents and then adults, we find figures that show us a pattern to follow, that is, people we see as examples. In the same way, by deciding to walk alongside the LORD, His Word gives us in JESUS the greatest role model to follow.
He is our example of how to treat others, our example of how we should influence those around us, He is the eternal sample of how we should conduct ourselves, of what we should become, of who we should be. No other example we have found can compare with Him.
The scriptures reveal to us how JESUS was present in every place where the needy and the dispossessed required help and care. How he was continually stirring up hopeless hearts and rejoicing inconsolable souls. In today’s scriptures, the apostle Paul reveals to us as believers, the end we must pursue: growth in character and spirit for the LORD, drawing closer in our work to His greatest example: CHRIST.
That is the ultimate purpose of the LORD in our lives. To become an instrument of His influence on those around us, to honor Him and render Him glory from our realities, in the family, at work, in fraternal communion with all our brothers.
Let us seek then, with small actions, gradually, to approach the example of CHRIST.
Let us follow the instructions that the scriptures give us and let us be that model that the LORD calls us to be. As Ephesians 4: 23-24 exhorts us: “Renew yourselves in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new man, created according to God in the righteousness and holiness of the truth.”
Dear FATHER, each day help me to follow the example of Christ and in this way to convert me, with my words and actions, into an instrument of good for the lives of those around me. In the name of JESUS. Amen and Amen.
