“A SPACIOUS PLACE” “A SPACIOUS PLACE”“In the midst of my anguish I called upon the Lord and the Lord answered me, placing me in a spacious place. The Lord is with me; I will not fear What man can do to me”.(Psalm 118: 5-6)What spacious place will the psalmist refer to in today’s scriptures? To a large field in the heart of a savanna? To a large room in a building? Regardless of what kind of place the scripture is referring to, the psalmist felt heard by the LORD in times of distress and despair.Do you remember the last time you asked GOD for help, to guide you on the path of good? Each of us gets through life’s tough times in different ways. An anguish for some may not be so for others and vice versa, but the most important step in the whole process of overcoming in CHRIST is to recognize the answer that the LORD gives us. I would say that many times we find ourselves so busy listening to the opinions and points of view of others that we overlook the LORD’s intervention and His direction for us. Instead in the light of the scriptures, we see the wisdom of the recognition of GOD as the precise guide that the believer requires. The psalmist feared nothing with the LORD at his side; thus the fact of being placed “in a spacious place” was to know by faith together with GOD, at any time and place. We must learn to listen to the LORD, tuning each sense, to recognize his voice through our heart, spirit, mind and even our body.Remember, listening to GOD is listening to Him on His terms and not ours. Wait for His voice in silence, find Him in calm, in prayer, in deep reflection. Stop for a moment today and prepare to listen to the LORD.Beloved FATHER, put me in a spacious place, where I find myself day by day with You to learn to listen to You. A wonderful place to live and in which all of us, as brothers, are invited to live in You. In the name of JESUS. Amen and Amen.
