“HIS WORD IS COMFORT”
“Remember the word given to your servant, in which you have made me hope. She is my comfort in my affliction, because your saying has quickened me.”
(Psalm 119: 50)
Anguish is not a pathology or a disease but an existential feeling. Anguish is not an independent feeling. It is generated by external and internal factors. Each person feels distress in a unique way and with a unique intensity. Common sense defines anguish as: “chest tightness.” Anguish squeezes our chests, robs us of peace and sickens our souls. Its effects are devastating.
It upsets the balance of our spirit and tears the hope out of our soul. While the anguish causes all this, the word of GOD is the antidote that creates the opposite effects, lays the foundations of our attitudes and aptitudes to follow the will of Our HEAVENLY FATHER and paves the way for us, to glorify him in weighing and work, in every step we take.
Furthermore, the word of the LORD creates life in our soul, comfort in our heart, and unties the bonds of our being. The Word of GOD is the tonic for our heart and the refreshment for the afflicted soul.
Therefore, in addition to reading, it is also important to examine the word. He who reads, hears, and keeps the word receives comfort in the day of trouble. The word quickens the dead in spirit, restores the lost, strengthens the weak, rejuvenates hope, and encourages the downcast soul. It is by the word that we know that nothing can separate us from the love of GOD.
Dear LORD, I thank You for the precious reward that are Your Holy Scriptures, for they are the ones that keep the wonderful teachings that illuminate the way to Your will. Your Word is the solid rock on which we can base our actions, our words and our thoughts to follow Your steps and glorify You. Therefore, help me FATHER and give me the discernment to study it, understand it and apply it day by day in my life. In the name of JESUS. Amen and Amen.
