“OUR ANCHOR OF HOPE”
“My soul, in God only rest, For from him is my hope. He alone is my rock and my salvation. He is my refuge, I will not slip. In God is my salvation and my glory; In God is my strong rock, and my refuge”.
(Psalm 62: 5-7)
Life can present us with overwhelming moments when we hunker down, torment ourselves, and may feel like we’re at a dead end. We think that our liberation will be impossible, that victory is not an option for us. The problems seem gigantic and we see ourselves as too small to solve them.
In these moments of deep crisis, it is when doubt can also set us up to diminish our faith and make us forget the greatness of the Power of GOD and His plans of blessing for each one of those who have decided to follow and serve Him.
Today’s verse is a cry of David in the most overwhelming of anguish, in the face of the persecution of which he was a victim by Saul, the fierce threats of other opponents and even the fact of having been attacked by his own son Absalom, that he wanted to take his life and take his throne. And that’s when David’s cry answers us: What to do in those situations of profound difficulty? David teaches us to speak with our own soul, to wait on GOD, even if the words no longer leave our lips. To take refuge in the peace of prayer but plunged into silence, without speaking, without arguing, without saying anything, but in deep reflection from our hearts towards the ears of the LORD.
Let us always keep in mind that GOD is our hope; it is the content and source of all hope. All who hope in Him will never be overthrown. Anyone who trusts in His character, His word, and His promises will triumph. Do not despair, wait on GOD.
Beloved LORD in the deepest difficulties, help me to maintain a strong character and a solid faith to remember the immense of Your power, which is greater than any adversity, and which makes possible what in the eyes of man seems unattainable. In the name of JESUS. Amen and Amen.
