“THE SHIELD OF FAITH”
“Above all, take up the shield of faith, with which you can quench all the fiery darts of the evil one.”
(Ephesians 6:16)
The apostle Paul speaks in today’s verse of a spiritual battle that affects us all. There is no neutral field in this war. Our fight is not against people, but against principalities and powers, against evil spiritual beings, who daily seek to devour us. We cannot enter this arena of struggle relying on our own strength. Carnal weapons cannot serve us in this fight.
We need powerful spiritual weapons that can only be found in the power of GOD, the only power capable of destroying fortresses and nullifying sophistry. We need all the armor of the LORD to protect us and also to attack the strongholds of evil.
One of the pieces of the Christian’s armor is the shield of faith. The Roman soldier carried a large shield that protected his entire body. When the enemy fired his fire arrows, the Roman soldier protected himself behind this shield that erased the enemy’s arrows. The evil one, murderer and traitor, always tries to hit us, throwing his flaming arrows at us.
They are lying accusations, furious attacks and diabolical conspiracies. The way to erase these poisoned arrows from the enemy is to neutralize them with the shield of faith. The enemy tries to sow doubt, but faith clings to promises. The enemy tries to destroy us, but faith is based on the unshakable truth that GOD is our infallible protector, our Shepherd, our guide who can lead us to the end of the tunnel, to see the light again, no matter the size of the adversity that let’s face it.
Dear LORD, strengthen my faith and my confidence in Your power, in Your care and in Your guidance. Faith is my shield and main weapon against the attacks of the enemy and of those who want to collapse me, so give me the discipline, to follow you every day, obey you and glorify you so that it remains solid and leads me to victory in any situation . In the name of JESUS. Amen and Amen.
