“AN UNCONDITIONAL LOVE” “AN UNCONDITIONAL LOVE”“Above all else, love one another intensely, because love covers infinity of sins.”(1 Peter 4: 8)Humanity tends to project its own faulty habits onto GOD. This is especially true when it comes to the nature of your love. We think we should barter, plead, or strive to win favor with the LORD. But as the prodigal son learned, the FATHER’s love is unconditional. The prodigal son hoped his father’s love would diminish (Luke 15: 11-24) Therefore, he returned home expecting a place among the family’s servants. Imagine the joy of the son when the father greeted him with a hug and a celebration. His actions certainly did not deserve an outpouring of affection, but the parable of JESUS is about a Father who does not give people what they deserve. A love based on behavior would keep people guessing, Have I done enough? Instead, GOD cares about you simply because you are you, and expects nothing in return.Consider the prodigal’s life after his homecoming party. He did not move into the servants’ quarters and went to work. He was reinstated in his place as the second son of a rich man, with all the privileges that come with it.In the same way, believers are the LORD’s beloved children. When GOD looks at his loved ones, he does not focus on past failures, faults, or sins. He sees the heirs of his kingdom, men and women who love him and want to spend eternity in his presence. No matter how far we stray from the LORD’s perfect will for our lives, we are always welcome back. The Bible teaches that GOD’s love cannot be lost, regardless of sin or bad choices (even if we have to live with the consequences). The arms of our FATHER are always open.Dear FATHER, thank you for Your unconditional love, which guides me, cares for me and teaches me to walk through this life. In the name of JESUS. Amen and Amen.
