“ALWAYS FIRM”

“The Lord does not delay his promise, as some have it for delay, but he is patient with us, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to proceed to repentance.”
(2 Peter 3: 9)

With each passing year, instability in the world seems increasingly evident. Natural and man-made disasters claim an uncountable number of lives; and the political balance changes. It all leads us to ask: Is there anything that is firm?

Despite how scary these things seem, let me give you an even bigger example. In today’s passage, we see that the heavens and the earth will be shaken. Everything will be destroyed … burned, to be exact. Fortunately, we have the promise that GOD will create new heavens and earth, but in the meantime our world will be subject to great turmoil.

Instability can create feelings of insecurity and fear, unless we focus on truths. The Bible refers to JESUS as a rock and a firm foundation. We know that GOD is immutable and sovereign; Nothing can destabilize or alter it. His Word is true, and will last forever.

As Christians, our eternal relationship with GOD is secure. We have been adopted as his children, and nothing can take away this position. Moreover, we have the security of an eternal home with Him. Although it is possible that sometimes we feel restless, we can rejoice when the trials humbly bring us to the cross of JESUS; there we will find true peace and security. What a great security we have as children of GOD. We can rest in peace and full confidence, knowing that our hearts are safe in JESUS CHRIST.

King David said: “All the time I think of you, Lord; with you on my right, I will never fall.”
(Psalm 16.8)

Dear LORD, may we always stand firm, trusting in Your power, and knowing that at all times we go from Your loving hand along the paths of good that you have for us. In the name of JESÚS. Amen and Amen.
