“I will go in front of you, and I will pave the crooked places for you; I will shatter bronze doors and iron bolts, I will give you hidden treasures and let you know secret secrets, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, I call you by your name”.
(Isaiah 45: 2-3)
I recognize that, many times, I don’t understand why bad things happen. Still, I believe that GOD has a purpose for everything he does or allows. My faith is based on the biblical doctrine that says that the LORD is SOVEREIGN. He has absolute control of this universe, of the natural and political climate of this earth, and of my life and his.
When we are in the middle of a test, it is difficult to resist crying out: “LORD … why is this happening?” Sometimes we have the answer, and sometimes we don’t. What we can be sure of is that nothing happens by chance or accident.
He has a purpose, even for our most painful experiences. Furthermore, we have this promise from the LORD: “To those who love God, all things help them well.”
It is very difficult, if not impossible, to see in advance how the LORD will use evil or harm for our benefit. My limited human perspective does not allow me to capture his superior plan. But I can assure you the truth of that biblical promise, because the good work of the HEAVENLY FATHER becomes visible in my pains, difficulties and deficiencies. I have experienced how He has turned my lament into joy, and I have also reaped abundant blessings and benefits from my darkest hours. We must accept that what God does does not always seem to make sense. Isaiah teaches that his ways and his thoughts are higher than ours. But we can trust that GOD is in control, no matter how crazy our world seems.
Dear LORD, let us not fear any adversity, always remembering that our life is guided by Your will and Your thoughts, which are always the highest. In the name of JESUS. Amen and Amen.
